- Square of the Muju Culture & Arts Center
- Description
- Originally performed on the night of the 14th day of the first lunar month, this traditional village ritual (Sotdae rite) was held to pray to the mountain spirit for a bountiful harvest and the well-being of the community. Today, the ceremony is presented in a simplified performance format as part of the Muju Firefly Festival and serves as a symbolic Sotdae ritual to wish for the festival’s success. The program includes: Making and transporting the Sotdae ▶ Setting up the Sotdae and preparing the ritual ▶ Performing the ritual and sharing consecrated food and drink ▶ Concluding celebratory folk performance (Gut)
